Battle of the Bands
You STRUT your stuff, the judges judge, and the winners get the spoils. The Battle of the Bands competition is optional and is only open to registered STRUT: 2018 Festival participants. All battle members must play in one of the leveled guitar orchestras: beginning, intermediate or advanced.
This year the Battle of the Bands will have two separate competitions: Rock and Paper.
ROCK = plugged or unplugged groups playing arrangements learned from chords &/or tab (ex. Ultimate Guitar).
PAPER = plugged or unplugged groups playing arrangements learned from sheet music with traditional music notation (ex. Guitar Orchestra music).
The Rock & Paper battles will happen at Southwest High School from 10am-3pm on Saturday, May 19th. Battle sessions are open and free to the public. Come cheer on your favorite players! The Rock Battle will take place in the main auditorium and the Paper Battle will take place in the Choir Room.
Deadline to register is Friday May 4 at 4 pm.
First, Second and Third Place STRUT: Battle of the Bands 2018 winners in each grade level and category will all receive a certificate and a small prize from the prize table. First place winners in each grade level and category will perform in the evening concert. Additional performance prize gigs will be announced as times and dates are confirmed.
